Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX – Alex Kidd in Miracle World remake is coming Q1 2021!

In 1987 Sega released the great side-scrolling platform game ‘ Alex Kidd ‘ for the Sega Master System console. Although it was first released in Japan in 1986 but internationally in 1987, it was one of the most well known games as it was also built into most Master System II’s. As such it came as no surprise to us, that when we mentioned it way back in 2018 way before IGN and other sites that this was game was being remade, it set our twitter feed alight with excited retro gaming retweets across the globe.

Thankfully the development has progressed exceedingly well, as fast forward to today and we can officially say the Alex Kidd In Miracle World remake aka DX is coming to Steam as of Q1 2021. As in the words of the developer about this upcoming DX remake ” Comprising of all levels from the original title as well as brand new levels which expand the lore of Alex Kidd, experience Miracle World like you’ve never seen it before with new animations, graphical detail and gameplay improvements. “

Saboteur SiO – Long awaited follow up by Clive Townsend is now on Steam!

The original Saboteur is a bit legendary. Not only was it one of the best, and most expansive, games on the Speccy, C64 and CPC, but it also had the most balls to the wall awesome cover art literally ever! But now after much excitement in the retro community from those who loved the classic Saboteur and as a heads up by Preston. Will be pleased to learn that the long awaited sequel called Saboteur SiO, has finally been released on Steam for modern systems such as Windows and Mac.

Welcome to a new game by the original creator Clive Townsend; a game which features 19 special story related achievements, all new enemies, levels and a story. DreadStar – A rather cool PC Windows shoot em up gets a Steam release

Growing up there was nothing more satisfying than playing top down scrolling shoot em ups such as the fantastic classic Tyrian 2000, or the many list of Arcade titles running through home emulation or a well designed cabinet. Well thanks to another heads up from the developer, we’ve been told that the game that we mentioned before as rather cool PC shoot em up called ‘DreadStar’ by Augmented Irreality, has finally been released on Steam!

This game is a fast paced shoot em up and based more on killing enemies than escaping thousands of bullets with inspirations such as Raiden, Donpachi and other “older” shoot’em’up games that did not have tiny hit boxes. DreadStar which is available on Steam right now, features not just 10 different weapons and 4 different ships with tons of customization. But 6 replayable levels with unique enemies, big bosses and mid bosses, 3 difficulty settings, RPG elements such as being able to level up, and finally pixel art cutscenes and chiptunes music made on the Atari-ST and ZX Spectrum!

Adventure in the Tower of Flight – NES styled platformer is now available on Steam!

I was talking to some friends the other night about how great it is to see a such surge in the retro way of life, taking a center stage even with such modern titles released that are all about the graphics and less about the game play. There have been lots of homebrew games on classic 8bit systems and new titles but in a retro 8bit flavour that have pushed through a Kickstarter success. Thus we are happy to announce another retro styled game that looks very much like a NES platformer; Adventure in the Tower of Flight developed by Pixel Barrage Entertainment, that is now available to buy on Steam.

Featuring high quality NES styled graphics, with incredibly fun game play that’s a joy to play by all ages, Adventure in the Tower of Flight is about Wing, a young adventurer who must climb endless the tower and collect all five known relics to become the ruler of the known land.
