LUNARK – Upcoming Flashback and Prince of Persia homage gets a demo

If you thought Another World, Heart of Darkness or Flashback was bloody brilliant, then wait till you see Lunark by developers Canari Games; an upcoming 2D Cinematic Platformer that is not only coming this year, but as of recently has just got a new demo tease. Featuring high quality art work, a fabulous story line, uniquely designed levels with gorgeous graphics. Canari Games are hoping this previously successful game on Kickstart will also be just as successful on Steam.

Lunark is a 2D cinematic platformer in the vein of ’80s and ’90s classics such as Prince of Persia and Flashback, which is themed on alien ruins, a flying penitentiary, a high-tech megalopolis, and even a majestic forest! If that wasn’t enough to excite your gaming senses, the developers also go on to say the controls are responsive, the progression system is generous and it will feel like a short and sweet adventure focused on delivering a thrilling narrative with explosive moments!

Twin Dragons – Charming NES platformer gets a Nesdev Compo 2016 Demo!

At the end of last year, we mentioned a brand new NES game in development for the NESdev Compo 2016. Titled as ‘ Twin Dragons ‘ and developed by Glutock, it looked to be a charming side scrolling platformer featuring great animations, physics, moving platforms, deadly enemies and power ups that could even freeze your foe’s. Well that same game is going to be mentioned again, as thanks to a heads up by the developer Antoine, Twin Dragons is now available to play as an early NESdev Compo 2016 demo.

From everything we’ve seen of the game so far it is looking very good indeed, and a strong throwback to the days of the NES. It is a charming NES platformer as we said before, that gamer’s of all ages will love to play, even if it is just a demo. And to be honest other people enjoy it just as much, as a member by the name of rikami said ” Absolutely love this game, definitely looking forward to having a longer version. Would be an instant classic in my book 🙂 “

Mojonian Tales – An anthology of games created by the Mojon Twins for the NES

The Mojon Twins are certainly no strangers to this site, releasing cool homebrew games such as Cheril the Writer, Bootèe, MiedoW (Cheril’s Nightmares), Mega Cheril Perils and even games such as Lala The Magical on the NES! But now there’s a new game(s) in town, as we’ve just learnt from @nath_mojon the availability of ‘ Mojonian Tales ‘; an anthology of games created by the Mojon Twins inclusive of adventures, platformers, shooters and even puzzlers!

As noted by the website, Mojonian Tales is an anthology of games created by the Mojon Twins. The list includes refurbished (sometimes reprogramed) old jewels, NES ports of some of their games already available in other platforms, and brand new games never published before. This package also includes a big bunch of easter eggs and hidden treasures for you to find and share all commercially available at the price of $48 NES or Famicom Complete in Box!

So what if you don’t have the cash to spare but still want to play this multitude of awesomeness, well worry not as if you check out the website, they’ve even got a demo for you to try on your NES or via Emulation.
